The Role

We're hiring a Corporate Lawyer to join our Quito office and support AxisKey's growing legal operations, including the launch and expansion of Axis Legal Desk.

The role is mainly focused on drafting, reviewing, and maintaining agreements and templates, both for internal use and for our clients. You'll also help address day-to-day internal legal matters and build scalable legal processes and documentation. 

This is an internal-facing tole: US bar licensure is not required. The role focuses on US-style corporate and commercial documentation and will not involve advising under Ecuadorian law, except for limited support related to team member's onboarding.

What You’ll Do

Agreements & Templates

• Draft, review, and update agreements for internal use and for clients, including service agreements, NDAs, engagement letters, and other commercial contracts.
• Build and maintain a library of standarized templates and clause banks for Axis Legal Desk.
• Track versions, redlines, and approvals to keep documentation accurate and consistent.
• Turn business requirements into clear, practical contract language.

Internal Legal Support

• Support internal legal matters across teams, including corporate housekeeping, policies, and internal documentation.
• Help the Onboarding and Sales teams with legal documentation and contract questions.
• Flag risks and escalate matters that need outside counsel or licensed review.

Legal Operations & Process

• Help design efficient workflows for contract requests, reviews, and approvals.
• Use technology and AI-assisted tools to speed up drafting, review, and document management.
• Work with leadership and cross-functional teams to scale legal processes as the company grows.

 What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves

• Fluent English communication (written and spoken) — this position is 100% in English.
• Law degree, with 3+ years of experience in corporate or commercial law (law firm or in-house).
• Strong contract drafting and review skills, with experience on commercial agreements.
• Advanced/fluent English, written and spoken, including drafting legal documents in English.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple agreements and deadlines.
• Ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal teams.
• Strong organizational skills and comfort working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Points For

• Experience with US-style contracts, US clients, or cross-border transactions.
• Experience in financial services, fintech, private capital markets, or investment funds.
• Experience building template libraries or standardizing legal documentation.
• Familiarity with contract management or AI-assisted legal tools.
• In-house or legal operations experience.
